On entering Level 4 children are able to read simple texts and write a basic sentence. Now they learn more grammar, spelling and
punctuation to put more meaning into their writing by joining sentences with conjunctives, adding adjectives and adverbs, using speech marks, exclamation marks and so forth. Tricky spellings
(ough, igh) and silent letters are taught. The children continue with the reading scheme but now reading is also used for instructions, and their first reading comprehensions are introduced.
Dictation and spelling tests are balanced with lighter-hearted word games.
All smiles in our Wednesday Level 4 class :-) March 2016
