READ AND WRITE WITH CONFIDENCE!
In Level 4 the children (ages 7-9) focus more on grammar, spelling and punctuation.
This helps to put more meaning into their writing by joining sentences with conjunctives, adding adjectives and adverbs, using speech marks, exclamation marks etc.

Tricky spellings (ough, igh) and silent letters are taught as well as irregular plural nouns.
The children continue with the reading scheme but now reading is also used for instructions, and their first reading comprehensions are introduced. Spelling & dictation is balanced with FUN word games. |

Putting words into alphabetical order and learning how to use dictionaries helps the children write stories and also with their journal writing.
Important reading and writing topics as well as learning new vocabulary are integrated through different themes such as volcanoes, space and jungles. |
